Mo’Ne Davis becomes first girl to throw a shutout in LLWS
Mo’Ne Davis dominated in her team’s opening game in the Little League World Series on Friday, becoming the first girl to throw a shutout in LLWS history. Davis’ Philadelphia team - the Taney Dragons - beat a Tennessee team 4-0, and she struck out eight batters. 
Davis is the 18th girl to play in the Little League World Series but the first to throw a shutout. She also threw a shutout in the Mid-Atlantic Final win that sent her team to the LLWS. She was hitting 70 mph with her fastball and allowed just two hits. 
Earlier in the week, Davis challenged Dodgers All-Star Clayton Kershaw to a pitch-off, which he accepted. 
Taney’s win Friday advances the team to play the winner of the Southwest-New England game. 
Davis’ performance caught the attention of some MLB All-Stars and NBA MVP Kevin Durant:
